The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has concluded training of 114 Young Pharmacists Volunteers under the NAFDAC – Youth against Drug Abuse Project (NAFDAC_YADA).
This was made known in a statement by the NAFDAC- YADA Program Director and National Chairman, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria – Young Pharmacists Group (PSN-YPG) Pharm Ekomobong Hanson in Lagos.
While Flagging off the Training in Lagos, the NAFDAC DG, Prof. Christianah Moji Adeyeye, decried the spate of drug abuse, especially codeine and tramadol and various substances by Youths across the country, noting that Drug Abuse is very dangerous to health and leads to unfortunate and untimely death. She called on all Nigerian Youths to shun all forms of Drug Abuse.
Prof. Adeyeye who was represented by the Director, Veterinary Medicines and Allied Products, NAFDAC, Pharm. Mrs. Edosa Ogbeide, urged the Volunteers to be selfless and dedicated in the National task assigned. The success of this project is largely dependent on You, She said.
The NAFDAC-YADA project is a school based Drug Abuse Prevention program being implemented in seven pilot states across Nigeria including: Lagos, Kano, Delta, Anambra, Osun, Kwara and Adamawa.
In attendance at the Training were Top Representatives from NAFDAC and PSN in the various states.
